HAPPY NEW YEAR

We have started the new year off with a BANG. Brooke and I have been preparing madly to get ready for her first semester at BYU Idaho. Brooke being the procrastinator she is thought it would be such an easy thing to get ready for. I tried to gently encourage each day of December to take little steps to prepare. It was not met with much enthusiasm on her part, it was more like "Mom we have plenty of time" or "Mom your stressing me out" of course always said in the nicest of ways.

So finally Monday December 27 I had to make a stand and would not take no for an answer. We spent most of the morning buying last minute items. The the packing began.....it involved 4 suite cases, everything put in the living room and countless zip lock space bags. We finally had some success;)

We were scheduled to leave Friday December 31, YES New Years Eve. The week was a busy one trying to balance good bye visits with friends and family along with continued preparations.

We made it!!! Off to the Airport with 4 suit cases (50 lbs each), 2 carry on's, 2 huge coats, 2 big blankets, 2 purses, 1 computer and 2 tear filled moments with goodbye to Dad.

FRIDAY
We landed and met Idaho with a chilling 2 degrees. Friday was spent first at the famous Craigo's Pizza, the home of the "FRESHMAN 15", lets just say our meal was topped off with Oreo pizza & Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough pizza. Then my favorite 3 hours at Walmart getting more supplies for the dorm room. We spent some time on campus finding the Dorm and just getting a feel for things. Exhausted, we rang in the new year asleep at 9 pm:0

SATURDAY 1/1/11
We woke up to a snow filled morning. We drove to Idaho Falls and had a fun day at the Mall, yes, more shopping. Big purchases, Brooke was excited 1 Down comforter, 1 hot chocolate maker and a most needed steamer! Hope she will get all the wrinkles out of her clothes after the vacuum packed suitcase trip. It's been about 4 degrees all day, its back to the hotel to warm up and have a little nap.

EMERGENCY!

So the other morning I go into the kitchen only to discover that Bowser (Brooke's turtle) is missing. The confusing thing about the whole situation was that his habitat sits on top of the kitchen counter, and he was nowhere to be found on the counter tops! The next thing that runs through my mind is that he has fallen off the counter and Pug has eaten him! My business partner got to the house and I start to yell, "Emergency, emergency! Bowser has escaped." We search all over the kitchen and can't find him. Then I finally see him... all the way over by the water container... in the next room! I hurry and pick him up and drop him back into his water bowl. It was touch and go there for a sec when he sunk to the bottom... then after what seemed like forever, his little legs started to move, and then he was back to his normal self. Whew! It was a close one!!!

Here's the habitat he escaped from, how he did it I have no clue!

Little Bowser so happy to be back in the water!
